Artifacts
of Ildurath: The Robes of Shimmaryn
The Robes of the Shimmaryn is an ancient artifact, an impossibly
ornate set of robes that were created during the time of the Crown
Wars. After the fall of Eaerlann, the robes were secreted away in
the halls of Cormanthyr for safe keeping and have not been worn since.
The
Robes were given to Sha’andr by the Shrinshee after he
accepted his destiny as heir to the Spellmajor of Cormanthyr.
The
Robes of the Shimmaryn use the power of a Shimmaryn, a small pocket
of dead magic encased in a magical lattice bound to a central clasp
on the robes, to provide the wearer with substantial defensive capabilities.
They
grant the wearer the following persistent powers:
- + 5 armor bonus
to AC
- Spell resistance equal to 5 + character level of the wearer
In addition, upon touching the clasp the wearer can activate the
normal powers of the Shimmaryn:
- The creature can will away all magical
effects currently operating on it, just as though the creature
had received a greater dispelling spell that is automatically successful.
(Beneficial effects end along with any harmful ones.) The user
must be conscious to employ the effect.
- Alternatively, the user
can choose to become immune to all spells, spell-like effects,
and supernatural effects for 3 rounds. The wearer effectively has
unbeatable spell resistance against spells and spell-like effects
and a similar immunity to supernatural effects.
- These latter powers
of the shimmaryn are safe to use only three times each day. Each
additional use beyond the third per day permanently drains 1 point
of Constitution from the user.
- Caster level: 20th
