 The Mythal of Ildurath: The
Ritual of Birth
The Ritual of Birth was a joint ritual between the High Elven Magi,
gathered from all over Faerun, and the High Druids from the Moonshaes,
led by La'eranthas Nae C'lshrian. It took place during the first
few days of the month, and set the stage for the other rituals that
were yet to come.
During this ritual a magical seed, blessed by Chauntea herself,
was planted in the ground in the center of the Forest of Ildurath.
This seed quickly grew into a small sapling, reaching deep into the
earth with its roots and establishing an indomitable tie to the land
around it. The sapling was named th’Lanthalas, the Great Tree,
and declared the Heart of Ildurath (and of the mythal).
The Ritual of Birth:
The Ritual of Birth involved the casting of many spells,
including an epic level druidic spell researched and created by La'eranthas
Nae C'lshrian specifically for Ildurath. The spell used a holy artifact
of Chauntea to create th'Lanthalas, the Great Tree, which acts as
the capstone for the Mythal of Ildurath.

The Seed of Creation spell imbues a Seed of the Earthmother
with the raw energies of life, the essence of a soul and
the potential for sentience. Once planted, the seed will
grow to become a sentient tree with intelligence, wisdom
and charisma (all 3d6).
The tree resulting from the Seed of Creation spell is th'Lanthalas,
the Great Tree. The Great Tree acts as the Heart of Ildurath
and the mythal, its roots reaching far into the ground and
nourishing the land with its energy. Just as the tree acts
to anchor the mythal, so too does the mythal provide energy
to the land through the tree in an ever continuous cycle
of life. |
Seed of the Earthmother (Minor Artifact):
A Seed of the Earthmother is a
minor artifact that is rumored to have been created by Chauntea.
It is a highly magical seed that can thrive even under the
most averse conditions, and will grow to be a superior specimen
of whatever type of tree the seed is to become. Once the seed
is planted, it will quickly grow into a young sapling digging
deep into the earth and establishing an indomitable hold on
the land. From there it will continue to grow normally, but
will always become the largest and strongest of its kind.
A tree that comes from a Seed of the Earthmother is always
deemed a blessed tree, and is often the sacred tree at the
center of druid’s groves. |
th'Lanthalas, The Great Tree

something that will take decades to occur.

In addition to the creation of the Great Tree itself, the Ritual
of Birth established the Outer Ward of the Mythal of Ildurath. This
is a one mile radius area around the Grove of th'Lanthalas, where
many of the defenses that protect the surrounding environments exist.
These help to ensure the safety of th'Lanthalas.
- The entire Outer Ward is considered a holy site to Chauntea,
and is under the protection of a permanent Hallow spell (caster
level 21, DC 30)
- Among the trees in the Outer Ward, six of them are Elder Treants
sworn to protect th'Lanthalas. They watch over the Outer Ward,
ever-vigilant for danger of any kind and can use their full repertoire
of abilities to defend it when necessary.
- The Outer Ward is under the protection of La'eranthas Nae C'lshrian,
Proxy of Chauntea.
