The
story of Ildurath: Part one
The story of Ildurath is one of hope for the people of the Elven
nation. It is a story of rebirth, and renewal, of a returning to
the way things once had been long ago. Gone are the days of the Elven
retreat, and the scattering of their race, and soon many of the fair
folk will be returning to the land. Guidance will be needed, and
wisdom gleaned, for the land to which they return is not the land
from which they left.
The great Elven empires have long since fallen. They are mere dust
and ruins, and the humans have all but spread across the face of
the continent usurping the land. A few cities and towns friendly
to the Elves can be found here and there but inhabiting them will
do nothing to help unify, or preserve, their society. Even the few
remaining Elven cities have fallen on hard times due to war or isolation,
and over time have been forced further and further away – to
the outlying regions and the border forests.
The Elven people live in small pockets of warmth and nature, as
isolated and unknown as ever before, and slowly their numbers are
dwindling. The elders of their people have seen the steady decline,
they have watched for centuries hoping that things would change.
They have not, and have decided that it is time to again act for
fear of loosing everything they have.
But what could they do to act upon this? They did not wish to be
antagonistic, did not want to repeat the mistakes that had been made
by their ancestors millennia ago. They wanted co-habitation of the
land, nothing more, and most were willing to accept the fact that
it would mean opening up their society to some degree. A free exchange
of knowledge, information, and trade would be required for the Elven
people to begin to work their way back into the land.
A young Elf, born of the blood of the gods, would show them the way
to accomplish this. His actions would become the model for a nation
of Elves, all starting with the creation of a small academy of magic.
